Apple Home Collection: LG’s 7 Devices and Australia Status

Apple Home Collection brings seven new LG smart-home accessories: cameras, a video doorbell, a deadbolt lock, a thermostat and a temperature sensor. The overseas rollout begins in December 2026, with selected accessories following in early 2027. LG has not announced an Australian release date or A$ prices.

The appeal is a home you can manage without juggling another set of apps. The buying question is whether the right accessory, installation and Apple equipment are available where you live. This guide separates the announced specifications from our buying judgement, checked on 15 October 2026. We have not tested these products.

What is Apple Home Collection?

This is a jointly developed accessory range, rather than a new LG television or an Apple-branded fridge. LG says it worked with Apple across hardware, software and the user experience. Its seven devices support Apple Home, with LG ThinQ support also announced.

Apple describes one-tap iPhone setup and control through the Home app without a separate manufacturer account or app. That could reduce the account-management burden when building a home system. It does not remove the need to check hardware, network and subscription requirements for the features you want.

Think about one everyday task first: seeing a delivery, opening the door with your hands full, or checking a room’s temperature. Buying around that task is more useful than collecting every accessory because the range looks coordinated.

Apple LG smart home products: specs and US prices

These are announced US starting prices in US dollars, not Australian retail prices or currency-converted estimates. LG’s full lineup is announced for the US and Canada; the four camera products, including the doorbell, also cover the UK.

LG accessory Key specification US starting price
Indoor Cam Plug-In 160° field of view; physical privacy tilt US$199.95
Outdoor Cam Plug-In Up to 2.5K; low-light colour night vision US$299.95
Floodlight Cam Motion-activated dual floodlights US$399.95
Video Doorbell Wired 2.5K front + Full HD bottom cameras US$249.95
Smart Deadbolt Lock UWB hands-free home key; PIN and backup key US$349.95
Smart Thermostat Adaptive Temperature; Matter support US$199.95
Temperature Sensor Temperature and humidity measurements US$39.95

Which LG smart cameras make the most sense?

The Indoor Cam tilts down when the first household member returns home. The doorbell’s two views address a different problem: a visitor’s face and a parcel on the ground do not occupy the same part of the frame. Outdoor and floodlight models focus on exterior coverage.

Our choice would start with the blind spot. If you only want to check deliveries, a doorbell may answer the question better than an indoor camera. If an unlit side entrance is the concern, lighting and camera placement deserve more attention than the headline resolution.

For any of these LG smart cameras, wait for independent footage showing faces, moving subjects and night scenes before treating “up to 2.5K” as proof of useful detail. Camera capture specifications alone do not establish cloud-recording quality, motion accuracy or how well a particular doorway will be covered.

What equipment and subscriptions will you need?

Apple specifies a compatible home hub for the cameras. Options include HomeView, HomePod, HomePod mini and Apple TV 4K, subject to the required software and feature compatibility. Supported iCloud+ plans provide ten days of encrypted event-video history.

AI video descriptions and natural-language search add another layer: they require eligible iCloud+ service, an Apple Intelligence-capable iPhone or iPad, and a supported updated home hub. Do not assume that owning an iPhone, or having any paid iCloud plan, automatically enables every advertised AI feature.

A practical budget therefore has three parts: the accessory, any hub or installation you still need, and the ongoing service for your desired recording features. Compare that whole setup with what you already own before replacing a working system.

Apple says built-in camera storage continues recording during a Wi-Fi outage. That is useful resilience, but it is not a promise of uninterrupted remote viewing or operation through a power failure. Storage capacity and retention details should be checked in the final product documentation.

If you are considering the new shared display, our Apple HomeView Australia guide explains the two models and installation extras. A screen is a separate purchase decision from a camera.

The lock and thermostat need a different buying check

The lock’s hands-free UWB entry works with compatible Apple devices. The thermostat and separate sensor address room comfort; a sensor measures conditions and does not independently convert an existing air conditioner into a smart system.

For a lock, the first unanswered question is physical fit. Door thickness, the existing lock arrangement and installation requirements can decide whether a device is suitable before software features matter. For a thermostat, the equivalent question is compatibility with the actual heating and cooling equipment.

That is why importing the cheapest overseas unit would not be our starting point. First seek the manufacturer’s compatibility information for your installation, local support and a clear return path if it does not fit. A lower sticker price does little for a device you cannot use.

Energy-saving features also need regional context. Apple’s Clean Energy Guidance is tied to eligible utilities in the contiguous US. It should not be presented as an Australian electricity-bill saving promise.

Apple Home Collection Australia: what is confirmed?

As of 15 October, Apple and LG’s announcements do not include Australia in the LG launch markets. LG publishing an Australian press release is not the same as announcing Australian stock. There is no verified local date or A$ price to put into a buying comparison yet.

AI-generated launch-region guide by Aussie Oppa. LG accessories roll out from December 2026, with selected products in early 2027. Australia is not among the announced LG launch markets. Schneider’s separate HomeView power mounts have a different regional rollout.

There is a separate Australian connection worth distinguishing: Schneider Electric announced HomeView Power Mount accessories, with Australia included in the rollout for its USB-C Wall Connector and AC Wired versions from 13 November 2026 through Apple Retail. The PoE Wired version follows in early 2027. Local pricing still needs confirmation.

Those Schneider mounts are not LG cameras or locks. Schneider’s new thermostat and room sensor are separately listed for the US and Canada in early 2027. Availability for one accessory cannot be used to infer availability for the rest of the collection.

For Australian readers, our recommendation is to shortlist a use case and wait for local product listings before spending on this LG range. If you need a doorbell now, compare products already sold and supported locally against that immediate need. Waiting makes more sense when your current setup works and unified Apple Home control is the main reason to change.

FAQ

Do you need HomeView to use Apple Home Collection?

HomeView is one supported hub option, not the only named option for the cameras. Check the compatible hub and software requirements for the particular accessory and feature before buying a new screen.

Will every existing LG device gain these features?

The announcement concerns the seven new accessories. It does not establish that an existing LG television, fridge or other ThinQ device gains the same Apple Home functionality.

Should Australians order the US models now?

We would wait for local availability and compatibility information. The announced US prices are useful context, but they do not establish Australian installation suitability, local support or a delivered Australian cost.
